If our expenditure on comforts, luxuries, amusements, etc., is up to the standard common among those with the same income as our own, we are probably giving away too little.  If our charities do not at all pinch or hamper us, I should say they are too small. There ought to be things we should like to do and cannot because our charitable expenditure excludes them. ~ C. S. Lewis
"When we attend to the needs of  those in want, we give them what is theirs, not ours. More than performing works  of mercy, we are paying a debt of justice."  ~ St. Gregory the Great, Pope,  Doctor of the Church

Why Does God Allow Poverty?
First man:
"Sometimes I'd like to ask God why he allows poverty, famine and injustice to continue when he could do something about it."
Second man: "What's stopping you?" First man: "I'm afraid he might ask me the same question." ~ Anonymous
