We ask your
blessing, Gracious God, on our parish. May it always assemble in peace, in reconciliation, justice and
joy, in praise of you and in service to the world. May we always
accept each other with gratitude and build up each other as members
of one body. Teach us to give instead of demanding, to trust others
rather than to compel trust, to serve rather than to be served.
Make us thankful for the variety of gifts and differences of
personality that enrich us. Help us to accept our differences of
age, giving respect to the old and encouragement to the young.
Never let us be satisfied with imperfections but also teach us that
patience which is yours. In peace let us be open to listen and to
speak with readiness to learn. Purge from our hearts all
bitterness, jealousy and thoughts of revenge. Lift us out of
depression and sadness. Let us accept joyfully the service of those
who lead us, so that we may grow together in love. May we be one as
your Son, Jesus Christ, prayed that we might be. With him in the
unity of the holy Spirit we give you all honour and glory.
AMEN
Background to Diocesan Pastoral
Reorganisation in Cornwall
Prayer “God our Father, open
the horizons of our minds and hearts so that we can see what hope
Your call holds for us.
Pour out the overflowing gifts of Your Spirit so that we, Your
Church, may become a people of hope for our world.
We ask you this, through Jesus Christ Our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever
and ever.
Our Lady, Mother of Hope, pray for us. St Peter, Rock of Hope, pray
for us. St Paul, Apostle of Hope, pray for us”
"The body [Christ's
Church] is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though
all its parts are many, they form one body.... The eye cannot say
to the hand, 'I don't need you!' And the head cannot say to the
feet, 'I don't need you!' God has combined the members of the body
... so that there should be no division in the body, but that its
parts should have equal concern for each other."

(from

'Golden' for Hayle and 'Centenial' for St. Ives:
11th October 2008 marked the Golden
Jubilee of St. Joseph’s being a Catholic Church. The Mass was a
celebration of that, followed by a party in the hall. The St. Ives Centenary Mass with Bishop Christopher was on
24th October followed by a reception. Penzance also celebrated the 164th anniversary of its dedication.
